At that point, I was mechanically adding @item s; I'm more concerned about the content. The commit messages is "begin cleaning up", and that chapter is such a mess that I didn't think it really mattered. However, it's bad practice, and I certainly wouldn't accept doc patches like that from other people. I'll avoid this in the future.
