Agreed in a technical sense, but in a "common sense" sense, that's bollocks: all I want to do is fix a typo! I want to change "fragle" into "fargle"... why is this so hard!?! I remember well that frustration from 2003. Besides, an "obvious" thing once you (think) you've compile lilypond is to compile the regression tests. Again, that involves the most complicated thing the development environment can do, but in an intuitive sense, it should be easy.
