This is what I saw before reversing the settings (my latest commit),
and now everything loads fine for me.

Did you test with commit 7ee351718 instead of latest git?

Yes, exactly.  It's a complicated issue too.  Werner made a nice
summary of the relevant issues a year ago [1], and I have tried I
figure out a solution by doing some brainstorming on the wiki [2], but
I've temporary given up on it.  :-)
