BTW, what is the best place to report bugs with the new code? I'm
assuming that -bug is for mainstream code and problems with experimental
versions should be discussed here.

many thanks at first! Great work!
I ran your new code on a set of scores which I recently had compiled
with Lily 2.12.
The spacing of scores with many staves per system has improved. However,
I noticed some issues (especially concerning lyric spacing):
1. On every system's last staff the lyrics are too close to the upper
staff.
2. Sometimes (if there are two more stanzas), the distance between those
is too big. That leads to a situation where the second stanza is so
close to the bottom staff that it looks as if those would belong to
them, while actually belonging to the upper staff.
3. Sometimes the amount systems are stretched differs clearly from one
to another without any noticeable reason.
I can send you the affected files off-list, if you want.
