Are you using Git? then use git-format-patch to generate the patch;
otherwise, use diff -u to obtain a diff with context lines.

Well, I followed the instructions on the Contributor's guide for using git to download the source, but I don't have a git-format- patch. I'm attaching two diffs, one done with the -u option, and the other with git diff.
