That's fair. But don't you think midi-extension usage 
should be explained somewhere -- since it's in the NEWS 
section?

One small issue I'd like to raise is that Windows users 
running LilyPond with the jEdit/LilyPondTool package 
can't play the MIDI file *WITHIN* jEdit while the 
extension is .mid (which, I should mention, is pretty 
handy). This will surely change when 2.12 comes out
(LilyPondTool generally updates only with stable 
releases), but in the meantime, it would be nice for the 
docs to explain how to restore this feature that is, at 
leasttemporarily, essentially broken.

And about the options page going obsolete, is there a
way to automatically generate current -dhelp options
within Texinfo, like with a @lilypondfile or something?
I'm a little out of my league here, but I'm suggesting
it in case it's do-able one way or another.
