Could \null mimic the behavior of \hspace #0 ? It would be nice if we could use it in the following way:
\layout{ raggedright=##t}
{ \fatText
c4^\markup{ \null aaa}
c4^\markup{ \null qqq}
c4^\markup{ \hspace #0 aaa}
c4^\markup{ \hspace #0 qqq}
}
