Is the 'reg' command standard for Windowses? In WinXP you can use it to set access the registry. Anyway, using the command: start "something.ly" will run the associated application. It is a good question to decide, whether the default assocation should be processing or editing.
Processing! Using Cygwin, if I click on an .ly file I process it, if I right-click it I can edit it in Notepad. This seems to be a good system to continue.
