According to the ttx disassembler, the OTFs are hinted, so the CFF
fonts are hinted too. It seems that FontForge isn't the cause of the
bad appearance. Maybe it depends on the Acrobat version too.
Sorry, I can't give more clues. Maybe people on the pdftex list can
give more help.
