You may not have set LD_LIBRARY_PATH and/or GUILE_LOAD_PATH correctly. If you use guile-platform 2.7.96 or newer, lily's (use-modules instruction may need a gnome-0 prefix. First make the libgnomecanvas/examples/canvas.scm example from guile-gnome-platform going, then try lilypond.
