Using fink packages for lilypond-unstable 2.3.7 and 2.3.8, I have problem producing pdfs with scalable fonts:

The resulting ps/pdf has nice, scaled notes, but the text (^"pizz", ^\markup{ \bold { Meno mosso }}, etc) is missing.
