sooner. However, I am considering the possibility of becoming a debian developer and making a official "lilypond-unstable" package. I guess it would be available for all debian flavors then.
Did you know there is now a Debian branch called "experimental" that might be perfect for this?
1.9.6 didn't solve my emacs problem but there may be another reason.
