This problem, as well as several others related to the old-style musical symbols, is related to the split of the font symbols into two separate font files. The solution is in principle the same as in Jürgen's answer http://mail.gnu.org/pipermail/lilypond-devel/2002-April/000755.html namely to explicitly set the font: \property Voice.NoteHead \override #'font-family = #'ancient
Unfortunately, you have to do this setting directly before the \longa and revert it directly afterwards, since otherwise the other note heads will not appear.
