Summary: libtool reorders --as-needed, breaking it Group: GNU Libtool Submitter: cendossm Submitted: Tue 01 Apr 2025 01:44:51 PM UTC Category: None Priority: 5 - Normal Severity: 3 - Normal Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Operating System: None _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue 01 Apr 2025 01:44:51 PM UTC By: Pierre Ossman <cendossm> We want to add --as-needed to some of our libraries to avoid dragging in unneeded dependencies in some complex build systems. Unfortunately, it breaks when libtool is involved as it reorders it and puts it after the relevant libraries. We've been carrying the attached patch for some time. Perhaps something like it can be merged upstream? _______________________________________________________ File Attachments: ------------------------------------------------------- Name: libtool-2.5.3-as-needed.patch Size: 990B <https://file.savannah.gnu.org/file/libtool-2.5.3-as-needed.patch?file_id=57090> AGPL NOTICE These attachments are served by Savane.
