The dsohowto paper is still incorrect, just as it was 4 years ago. If you follow the thread, you'll see Ralf's reply: http://www.mail-archive.com/libtool@gnu.org/msg05679.html Libtool does, and did 4 years ago, use a linker script to limit exported symbols on linux if ld supports it.
