The hello file in /tmp/hello/usr/local/bin/hello is the wrapper file,
not a binary.
I see a very similar problem with an autoconf/automake/libtool project on HP-UX 11.11 which seems to build and run with no problems in the staging dir, but when installed into the release dir installs the wrapper files rather than the binaries. The same project works with no issues on Solaris 2.8 and RedHat Linux.
