When libtool is targeted at i686-pc-mingw32, and configured with --disable-shared, the following message "libtool: link: warning: undefined symbols not allowed in i686-pc-mingw32 shared libraries" is output. It seems to me that with shared libraries disabled, libtool should not produce any out related to shared libraries.
