Is anything known about inter-library dependencies on
OpenBSD/i386 with gcc 2.95?

I'm porting the Helix Gnome distribution to this platform
and have encountered
problems with the ability to support interlibrary
dependencies being 'unknown'.

The Helix Gnome distribution comes with many levels of
interlibrary dependencies
and seems to assume that shared libraries are possible. Some
modules REQUIRE
shared libraries in order to function (I could only get them
to run by rewriting part of
libtool and setting

deplibs_check_method = pass_all

So my question:

Is this a reasonable thing to do throughout? (It makes me
uncomfortable
to have different libtools for different parts of the
system). Or is there some other
reasonable alternative that allows shares libraries on this
platform?

If nobody knows this, what information would I need to have
on this platform in
order to make an intelligent decision?

Thank you!
