IIRC this problem affected something like 4 or 5 packages in the whole Cygwin tree, and can be worked around by providing manifests for installed programs, and renaming uninstalled ones (and using $(transform) to rename back upon installation). It is not a pressing problem by any measure, and not *the* problem where minimizing invasiveness is paramount. OTOH it is one making head hurt with API uglicity and awkwardness. I don't want to sound pejorative or shoot this down, just get those priorities right among the list of things to do. Thanks, Ralf
