Hi everyone,

Regarding the call for GSoC ideas in the recent ESC minutes:

I would like to propose a project for "Legacy Feature Removal and C++
Modernization" (175 hours).

My recent work on tdf#162563 (Java Applet removal) showed that cleaning up
"zombie features" requires significant vertical work across the Registry (
officecfg), XML persistence (xmloff), and runtime (stoc).

Proposed Scope:

   1.

Architectural Cleanup: Identifying and removing obsolete integrations
that bloat binary size and memory.
   2.

C++ Refactoring: Replacing legacy patterns (e.g., std::bind to lambdas)
   to improve safety and readability.

Would a project focused on this type of "Technical Debt Cleanup" be a
viable candidate? I am happy to draft a detailed description if this aligns
with project goals.

Best regards,
Shlok Kanani
