the linked document is really useful. It does not only explain how to layout tables, but answers my other questions too.

If we had a Wiki page about East Asian writing mode related problems, it would be good to put a link to that document on it.

    It's not so common to see a table in a vertically formatted text.
    I've tried to find the definition first from "Requirements for
    Chinese Text Layouts."
