On an i7, from about two or three 10 second periods of unresponsiveness post-load of the document as idle-time word-count and spell-checking hit the two or three ultra-long-paragraphs to maybe a half-second of lag or so. Extra pieces in master make this even faster to an unnoticeable degree, but slightly more invasive.
