In the past we solved this with the cmake branch but this also causes its own problems as the branch is constantly behind. Currently I have no good idea how to solve this problem but I'll try to spend some time thinking about solutions. I plan to release a new version 1.15.0 sometime in June and will get back to with some plan by then.
