Muti-threading is hard. It is naïve to think that "I know, I will use threads" is the correct answer to a perceived performance issue.
(Sure, in *some* cases it might be the answer. But even then, if the code and/or data structures have not been designed with multi-threading in mind, doing it might be quite hard.) --tml
