Not disagreeing, but this would increase the fraction of the time during which Writer, at least, ignores keystrokes. If you are looking at the screen when this happens, you just wait for the autosave to finish and then carry on; if you are looking at something else, you are faced later--for some walue of "later"--with the challenge of trying to reconstruct what you were thinking.
