Probably, feel free to edit it with the extra info. I didn't check to see if its a universal replacement for the String::* ones. I was keeping it under the radar a bit to see if it would play out as a suitable replacement and find out the minimum api and then consider moving it from comphelper up to sal. But that can happen later and shouldn't block anything.
