Note that MSO also has more user friendly options to paste from Excel to Word that enables on right click and gives features like this extension does http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/pasteasvalue (thankfully an extension works so far even though it can be slow and its been out ages ago) only in more appealing way with preview of what will happen once you choose a paste method.
