Hello Nguyen, Sorry for answering that late...

Base still needs some love and there is no core hacker knowing it correctly. Having students working on it would be nice, but the mentoring would be more complex. On the old easy hacks page, we had an item to move Base to use sqlite as instead of hsqldb... has it been done already? In a general way, removing as much Java dependencies as possible is a good projet and Base is full of these. > > I think Svg is already being worked on so it might be all > > completed before GsoC starts. > You can consider the team of students as another GSoC team. > They will need to do something else that requires programming. You can choose any UNO language you want for an extension... which means C++ is OK. As an interesting extension project, there is the CMIS protocol handler to implement. This can also turn out to be core hacking as there are quite some helpers in the core for this. It's not listed on any wiki page ATM as the project idea is too new, but I'ld be one of the mentors here.
