Well, clearly its also possible that its totally screwed up and loads of docs cause the filter to hang pointlessly. But lets assume the best and that logically the entire surrounding if can be removed. There's always the theoretical possibility that there's always an exception thrown by the two lines after the if and before the while(1) which breaks out of the block. But that's not the case here.
