4 hours and 15 minutes later, I can say "You are correct, sir!" Finally, a starting point for perturbation. For reference, in case anyone's interested:

$ ./download

$ make   # and wait for 4 hours.

Yes, I'm aware I can change the CPU count, among other things, but this was my noob starting point.
