Do you see MS ttf corefonts in the font viewer?
If I compare with Ubuntu the package ttf-mscorefonts-installer is only an
installer and you must accept the MS licence. Did you do that?
Status set to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested
informations are provided.
