I was able to reproduce this on two non-HiDPI monitors with resolution of 1920
x 1080, where one system has an Nvidia card with proprietary Nvidia driver
390.25, and the other is a TUXEDO Book BU1406 with an Intel Kaby Lake graphics
device and Ubuntu 17.10.
