Bug ID: 98702
Summary: EDITING: Pasting with column or row selected
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 5.0.4.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Calc
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Summary: When editing a SS, user (accidentally?) selects the entire column (or
entire row) before pasting. LibreOffice then hangs (not responding), before
finally pasting contents into entire column or row. Since it's very easy to
click in the wrong place, this can occur often.
Desired result: Warn user when entire row or column are selected; allow user to
either back out of paste, or continue.
Repeatable. To repeat:
1. Open a SS.
2. Copy one cell, or especially more cells. (Problem is worse if multiple cells
are being copied.)
3. Click on column or row header.
4. Paste.
Possible consequences:
1. Frustration with LO.
2. Delay / missed deadlines.
3. Data loss. Before control returns to the user, Windows or LO may crash. Or,
the user may be unwilling to wait for control to return, and choose to reboot
or end-process.
Problem is worst when:
1. Computer is slow.
2. Many cells are being copied. E.g., try copying entire row to entire column.
3. Entire column is selected for pasting, rather than entire row, or partial
row or column, since more cells are affected.
