With 4.2, we can not longer properly edit HTML files. 4.2 generates non-standard HTML that many browsers do not support. It also changes the structure of the file without the user explicitly asking for it. Finally it introduces bugs like you have encountered. The issue you described is related but needs to be tracked separately. Have you filed a bug report? We should never silently corrupt documents on save.
