Priority: medium
Bug ID: 80189
Assignee: [email protected]
Summary: UI: simple command reference handbooks is needed in
the Spreadsheet!
Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
Reporter: [email protected]
Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Version: 4.1.5.3 release
Component: Spreadsheet
Product: LibreOffice
Problem description:
Steps to reproduce:
1. Click on the HELP menu item.
2. Try to find a reference list of all teh commands.
3. It only takes you online and consumes a lol of resources.
4. If you are offline, you can not do work.
5. Even if you find the online version in 8 minutes of clicking, just like I
did, it gives you this:
https://help.libreoffice.org/Calc/Mathematical_Functions
THE FORMAT IS HORRIBLE FOR WIDESCREEN MONITORS!!! Why is 92-94% of the screen
blank space and I have to scroll pages and still get to nothing?
Good way to do it is:
Give out a list of commands and their short description in the same row next to
them; and closer information on syntax and such in a window next to the window
with the list of the commands
Good example:
"CSCH() -- hyperbolic cosecant of a number"
"SECH() -- hyperbolic secant of a number"
Bad way:
1) hide the commands somewhere on a wiki
2) list commands widely spaced without description
3) make the spaces so big that user will forget what he awas looking for
before he scrolls down to the reference
Bad example:
" CSCH
_____________________________________________________
Returns the hyperbolic cosecant of a number.
Syntax
CSCH(Number)
Returns the hyperbolic cosecant of Number.
Example
=CSCH(1) returns approximately 0.8509181282, the hyperbolic cosecant of 1.
SECH
_________________________________________________
Returns the hyperbolic secant of a number.
Syntax
SECH(Number)
Returns the hyperbolic secant of Number.
Example
=SECH(0) returns 1, the hyperbolic secant of 0."
"
Expected behavior:
You are expected to find a simple reference book of all the spreadsheet
syntaxes without going online.
Idiotic repeating three times that a function "returns hyperbolic sectant of a
number" is not useful to anyone! Repeating it after vicious spacing is even
worse.
How do I find a function in the list that returns only a positive part of the
result???
Operating System: All
