All | |should be removed (comment | |4) Version|7.5.0.3 release |5.4 all versions Ever confirmed|0 |1 Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW Priority|medium |low Severity|normal |minor --- Comment #7 from Justin L <[email protected]> --- (In reply to Gabor Kelemen (Collabora) from comment #4) > In this case I'd expect the whole existing text (or placeholder) to be removed I think I agree. If you are deleting the field structure, then the field content should also be removed. By only deleting the fieldmarks, it is not explicitly clear to the end user what has actually happened (although the gray background does disappear, so it is not a terrible experience). Deleting everything is also how MS Word (2024) handles it. When the backspace reaches the field, it selects the entire field and then the next backspace deletes everything. (Same thing with using the Delete button.) repro 27.2+. When I press backspace, then the content of the field still exists, it just is no longer considered to be a field (although the field bookmarks still remain). In 5.3, you couldn't delete a field (with delete or backspace). The current deletion experience was introduced (at least for the delete key) with 5.4 commit f72b866c9cf4f07fce6744fbf482c4c6488106e2 Author: Mike Kaganski on Tue Jan 31 15:33:32 2017 +0000 tdf#105625: allow editing around field marks This commit fixes commit aa799f64723933bbb46544f835a970cfcbb90384, and partially reverts commits bd505fdb9f669f365ff39b0ef46f0742c638e333 and 9104d5e8905c2ec2b576b5ca452d3e23d5555e49 that seem unnecessary now. Unit test included, the existing unit tests of partially reverted commits are kept.
