A further note that in current version (26.8.1) a different change has been made to the indent controls, which can help solve the problem is one further change is made. THAT RECENTLY MADE CHANGE IS: When hovering the mouse over contact point of the two ruler triangles, a horizontal, yellow double-ended arrow appears. Dragging that arrow moves both triangles. Once one knows that this feature is there, it is easy and intuitive to use (and better than what WinWord has that was mentioned in a comment). I will attach an image showing this.
