Bug ID: 173641
Summary: On reboot or logoff/logon, Libreoffice does not save
the horizontal position of open documents
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.4.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: UI
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
If a libreoffice document is closed before reboot of logoff/logon, the exact
screen (on a multiscreen system), horizontal, vertical, and size is restored on
reopening.
On reboot or logoff/logon, my system will close open libreoffice documents
(with a warning).
On login after, the libreoffice documents that had been closed are displayed in
the correct screen, size and vertical position, but the horizontal position
changes.
On my system, new documents appear by default on the centre of the main screen.
After login, Libo documents open during reboot or logoff/login will now appear
on the correct screen, with the correct size and vertical position, but not
correct horizontal position, centred instead.
Documents on the main screen display horizontally centred (which is the default
for new documents of all types).
Documents on secondary screens will appear in a constant very noticeably
shifted horizontal position.
This has only been noticed for Calc documents, as they are the only documents
open on typical reboot or logout/login.
However all Calc, Writer and Draw documents will, if opened, then closed and
reopened, display at the exact same position and size as they did when closed.
So I would expect that the problem applies to all Libo documents.
Version is 26.2.4.2 compiled by Mageia (Linux) on X86_64
So it seems that the horizontal parametre is somehow erased if Libo is closed
by the shutdown procedure.
On the main screen that becomes centred horizontally, and on a secondary screen
it becomes a constant different horizontal position.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Reboot or logout/login with unclosed Libreoffice documents
2. Login
Actual Results:
Documents which had been displayed on the main screen are centred horizontally,
likely because that is the configured system default.
Documents which had been displayed on a secondary screen appear at a different
constant horizontal offset (which is not centred).
The other display parametres are respected.
To restore the desired positions, move to the desired position, close, then
reopen.
Expected Results:
The documents affected open in the desired position horizontally.
Reproducible: Always
User Profile Reset: No
Additional Info:
It should have retained the horizontal position.
I don't know if Libreoffice keeps track of changes of position, rewriting only
if the position changes, or if it always rewrites the position on closing.
If it always rewrites on closing, somehow the horizontal position is lost.
Otherwise it might be overwriting the horizontal position, which could default
to centred on the main screen.
No other application cares about the running status on closing. That might be
a factor as well.
