This applies now to all children styles, as long the attributes are not overwritten, and also to "Clear Formatting" and "More Styles...". In svx/source/tbxctrls/tbcontrl.cxx we check whether a font is available and avoid italic, for example (see 154680) but somehow this is not working as expected. Ultimately it's a question what standard these two items should follow in a styled context.
