Product: LibreOffice
Version: 26.2.5.2 release

OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: medium
Component: Writer

Sample doc, as described in the bug report.
LO Writer's built-in word count is goofy/faulty. See the attached doc and
screenshot. They show (in the message bar at bottom of screenshot) that the
word/char count for ΒΆ17 is 43/532. The char count is close (I get 530 or 535 in
Emacs, depending on how you ask it to count), but the word count is wildly off
(just start marching down the passage, counting words as you go, and you'll
see; Emacs says there are 99 words).
Accurate word/char counts are important for some purposes, in particular for
legal documents filed at courts that have limitations on such things. (The
sample doc I'm sending is a draft of exactly such a doc.)
