            Bug ID: 171565
Summary: Writer Uses Old Copy of Text File
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: 24.2.7.2 release
          Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
                OS: Linux (All)
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Writer
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]

I went through the previous bugs but could not find a match.

I create a text file with my own program called say file.txt.
For printing I use writer for final formatting.
My program includes a print button that opens writer with 'swriter file.txt'.
Format document and print - does a good job.

Sometime later I realised that text needs to be added.
I open my program and make some edits, saved and clicked Print with same
filename as before.

file.txt opens in writer but it is not the new revised file but the old
version.

I tried every conceivable was of loading the new file but the old file kept
showing.
I clicked on the revised file and choose writer to open it, still the old file
showed.
I powered down and backup again thinking this would flush something, still the
old file showed.
I opened file.txt in Kate and the revised file showed.

I believed that writer was using something saved to keep bringing up the old
file so I renamed file.txt to file.txt.txt and writer opened the new revised
version.

My opinion (for what it is worth) is that writer saves copies of a file for
future use but does not or cannot take into account new edits. I only tried
this with inserting a text file.
