Quick Fixes:

Flatten/Save As New Image before compressing.

Use "Export As" (not "Save for Web") to preserve edits.

Check if your program has a "Lossless Crop" setting.

It's like trimming a tree branch like https://www.urbantimbertree.com/ but
accidentally squeezing the whole trunk if the compression tool doesn't focus
just on the cropped area, it warps everything. Try exporting the cropped
section as a new image first, then compressing that standalone file. Some apps
(like Photoshop) have a 'Delete Cropped Pixels' option to prevent this."
