Bug ID: 167481
Summary: Feature Request – Confirmation Prompt When Inserting
Large Items or Folders
Product: LibreOffice
Version: 7.4.7.2 release
Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: medium
Component: Writer
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Description:
Hello LibreOffice team,
I’d like to suggest a small safeguard for Writer concerning paste actions that
result in inserting large items — particularly folders — into documents.
Recently, I accidentally pasted a folder containing program files into a
LibreOffice Writer document. Writer attempted to process the folder and began
spawning dozens of insert dialogs before crashing — which unfortunately caused
me to lose my unsaved homework.
To help prevent this kind of issue in the future, could you consider
implementing a confirmation prompt when a user attempts to paste:
• A folder (rather than a single file)
• Multiple large files
• Items exceeding a certain size threshold
Even a simple message like “Are you sure you want to insert X items?” could go
a long way toward preventing accidental inserts and improving stability.
Thanks for considering this suggestion — I genuinely appreciate the work you do
to maintain LibreOffice and hope this feedback helps enhance its robustness and
user experience.
Best regards,
