            Bug ID: 166639
           Summary: R1C1 syntax (and maybe others) needs an article
           Product: LibreOffice
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: medium
         Component: Documentation
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]

In the help, there are some references to R1C1 syntax:

* Naming Cells [1]
* Detailed Calculation Settings [2]
* ADDRESS function [3]

Note that [1] mentions it indirectly, when stating some naming constraints, and
refers to [3] as if that explains something about those constraints (it does
not). More generally, users can't find any details about the referencing styles
in the help.

We need an article about R1C1 address convention; maybe it could be a more
general page about all address conventions used in the program (A1; Excel A1;
R1C1). That page needs to explain the syntax (including use of quotations,
separators, how relative vs. absolute addressing are expressed there - so it is
related to [4]; maybe the data should not be a separate article, but be there
in [4]). Then e.g. [1] could refer there (with a link), instead of "ADDRESS
function" - with an additional comment, that a name cannot be anything that may
be confused with a cell (range) reference in any convention.

An explanation of R1C1 reference style mey be found e.g. in [5].
