Or enabled from Tools -> Options -> General 'Load LibreOffice during system start-up' checkbox. That is does task manager show an soffice.bin running in the background, and the LibreOffice Quickstart showing in the Windows Taskbar Notifications? If so, it is a good idea to disable the quickstart and kill of the extra process(s) before doing updates or adding other LO extensions.
