Hello Christian,
Thank you for the response.

When you say MHD1 is quite stable and MHD2 is under heavy development,
do you mean I can use MHD2 as a library in my httpfs translator test suite?

Well, you certainly can use it, but especially if you use new features like HTTP/2 support, you should expect to still possibly encounter bugs. We'd be happy to receive reports if you run into issues and will be eager to fix them. For HTTP/1.1, I think it should be fine, we've done some first use-cases with MHD2 and encountered no issues.

Currently, the httpfs shall support only HTTP/1.1 as far as I would
like to but HTTP/2 and even HTTP/3 are planned (when I don't know).
What's the difference between MHD1 and MHD2 may I ask?

Oh, many things, let me give you the short version:
- modern API, harder to use wrong / unsafely: more type-safety and
  memory-safety baked into the API
- improved performance (CPU, latency, code size)
- new features (HTTP/2, ACME, ...), more coming
- same license, same developers ;-)

Happy hacking!

Christian
