Hello, On Ubuntu and Mint, I found out that if you run:
sudo passwd root And set the password, you can run "su - root" and login as root. I do this as one of the first things when setting up a Ubuntu or Mint system because I cannot stand sudo. Hope this helps! Douglas Reno
