That will work fine.  You might want to shorten up the if command to 
what you have.  Use 'ls -l $LFS/dev/shm' to see.  It's probably a link 
to /run/shm.  Then just:

mount -vt tmpfs shm $LFS/run/shm

Personally, I don't shut down at night so it's not an issue.
