I can recall that the details of how to successfully invoke udevadm (?) to report on a usb stick or usb drive have changed over the years. I'm also sure that there have been other bootscript changes related to changes in udev.
Personally, I updated udev on all of my then-current systems a few years ago, after a vulnerability was disclosed. But it isn't something I would choose to do, and I find it hard to imagine that a newer version will now bring anything useful to most people. Obviously, there are still specific changes for keymaps on newer laptops, and occasional new things like scm block devices [ I'm just reading git log for standalone-udev, I guess those changes were cherry-picked from systemd ]. ĸen -- das eine Mal als Tragödie, das andere Mal als Farce -- http://linuxfromscratch.org/mailman/listinfo/lfs-support FAQ: http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/faq.html Unsubscribe: See the above information page
