Sharing /home across _distros_ can get interesting (different groups and UIDs) but has to be a better way to go. For LFS, of course, you can easily change the UIDs and group numbers to match one host distro. Even at 100GB, you probably want to use ext4 (if using one of the ext fs's) to speed up the inevitable fscks.
